Metals

RUS Industries, Inc is capable of providing you with many material options, ranging from Stainless Steel to Brass to UHMW plastic.  If you have specific materials in mind or questions pertaining to the machining of material, RUS Industries can provide it for you.

Stainless Steel Options:

316 Stainless Steel: is a non-magnetic high grade alloy, also known as marine grade stainless, used in applications where strength, durability, and resistance to the elements are critical. 316 Stainless Steel comes in round, square, hex, and extruded shape bar stock as well as formed as a Casting. It is one of the more difficult metals to machine.

303 Stainless Steel: is a non-magnetic mid-grade alloy used in mild industrial applications and items such as nuts, bolts, shafts, and fittings. Its non-seizing and non-galling characteristics make it an ideal choice for moving parts. Corrosion resistance is lower than 304. 303 Stainless Steel comes in round, square, hex and extruded shape bar.

304 Stainless Steel: is the most widely used of the stainless group. A non-magnetic alloy used in applications where strength, durability and resistance to the elements are critical. Also used in industries requiring high degrees of cleanliness and sanitations such as the food and beverage industries.  304 Stainless Steel comes in round, square, hex and extruded shape bar stock as well as formed as a Casting.

416 Stainless Steel: is a magnetic mid grade alloy with very good machineability.  It can also be heat treated for additional hardening.   416 Stainless Steel does have a lower corrosion resistance and therefore is not suitable for marine or chloride exposure. 416 SS comes in round, square, hex and extruded shape bar stock as well as formed as a Casting and is also available in a pre-hardened condition.

Carbon Steels

Carbon Steels are a low cost metal used in applications where strength, durability and cost are all very important. Common grades include 1018, 1144 and 12L14 Steel and come in round, square, hex and extruded shape bar stock as well as formed as a Casting. They are relatively easy to machine and can be plated after machining in a wide variety of finishes to achieve the look and element resistance your looking for.

Aluminum

2011-T3 Aluminum: Excellent machine-ability and surface finishing. Average weld-ability, strength and anodizing capabilities. Mid level corrosion resistance.

2024-T3 Aluminum: Very strong with average machine-ability but susceptible to corrosion.

6061-T6 Aluminum:The most common aluminum alloy due to very good strength, heat treat-ability, weld-ability and easy machine-ability.  Excellent for anodizing as well.

6262-T6511 Aluminum:his material was designed for a high level of machining.  It has good strength and corrosion characteristics.

7053-T6 Aluminum:One of the highest strength alloys available.  Good machine-ability, corrosion and anodizing characteristics however is not considered weld able.

Brass

Brass is a non-corrosive metal used in applications where sealing and resistance to elements are important and also in assemblies where there is secondary forming or swedging necessary. Common grades include 360, 385 and 484 and come in round, square, hex and extruded shape bar stock as well as formed as a Casting or Forging. Brass is relatively easy to machine and can be plated after machining in a wide variety of finishes to achieve the look and resistance you are looking for.
